I received your print today and just want to say: WOW! Yes, it is breathtaking. I get some ooohs and ahhs from some of the work I print but your print was awesome.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for running the special to entice some of us to sample what is possible with current technology, skill, and a strong dedication to excellence.
From the matting to the packaging it was a first class job.

The Photograph
The 65th Alain Briot Print of the Month photograph is titled Chiaroscuro. As with the 2 previous prints of the month (number 63 and 64, this image is a digital collage of several Phase One P45 photographs. The camera used is a Hasselblad SWCM-CF which features the superb Biogon 38mm lens. If you want to learn more about how these images are created, an essay about the process I follow is available at this link.

I titled this image Chiaroscuro, which loosely translates into "light and dark" in English and "clair obscur" in French, because for me it is an image that is about the light first and about the location second. As is the case very often with my work, I photograph the light first and the landscape second. This image is about the play of light between the areas in the shadows and the areas in direct light, it is about the mystery and the feeling that one experiences while standing in this narrow canyon, watching light play on the canyon walls.

Because panoramic images enlarge differently than traditional rectangular formats (such as 4x5 or 35mm), I am offering a larger print size that presents the image in a more dramatic fashion. The resolution is there to create a 10 foot high print, which I will be doing at a later time to install in my upcoming home gallery (details to follow later this month). Both sizes are available at special "Print of the Month Price until August 30th, 2008. There are no extra charges for shipping, no matter where you live in the world.

The Print
This photograph is available framed and unframed. It is hand signed on the mat and the print. The frame is a handmade Mahogany Finish Frame. The moulding is truly magnificent and does emphasize the beauty of this image. The photograph I took of the moulding show very closely how beautiful this presentation is. However, these pieces looks much better in reality than a web photograph can show! You just won't believe your eyes when you receive yours. All the framing materials used are Museum Quality, archival supplies. All my work is guaranteed for life in regard to fading and damage caused by framing materials.

Framed pieces are delivered in a stunning mahogany finish frame.
