I received your print today and just want to say: WOW! Yes, it is breathtaking. I get some ooohs and ahhs from some of the work I print but your print was awesome.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for running the special to entice some of us to sample what is possible with current technology, skill, and a strong dedication to excellence.
From the matting to the packaging it was a first class job.

The Photograph
I am pleased to announce the release of the twenty sifth Alain Briot Print of the Month Collection photograph: God Rays, Kyaatataypi,Arizona. This photograph was created during a recent photography expedition to Northeastern Arizona.
Kyaatataypi is located in Northeastern Arizona. Natalie and I own an 80 acre property there which we visit on a regular basis to relax, explore and photograph. It is nice to have your own wilderness area, so to speak, as we keep this property totally underveloped. In fact, if you were to go there, you would not even find the road into the property because there is none. It is that wild and 4x4 is a requirement, not an option
God Rays was created from the Western overlook of Kyaatataypi, with a view covering over 180 degrees and reaching miles and miles over a huge tract of uninhabited and undevelopped land. I have been captivated by this view ever since purchasing this property and I have attempted to photograph it numerous times (here are some of my previous attempts). Photographing such a huge expanse of land is challenging, to say the least. Just as an aside it takes nearly three photographs with my Fuji 617 + 90mm lens to cover the whole expanse. I would have to do a 3 part 617 panoramic collage to capture it all. The resulting image would most likely wrap around my living room!
Needless to say an expanse of land this large is more a stage on which natural events unfold than a subject you want to photograph in its entirety. So what happens at Kyaatataypi? To name but a few of the stunning events that take place there: clouds, light rays, sun dogs, rainbows, sunrises and sunsets, moonrises and moonsets, rainstorms, snowstorms, etc. etc. Nature here operates on as grand a stage as you will ever see. And, because of the particular lay of the lands, the specific types of clay present, the vegetation, the humidity levels, etc. clouds form over Kyatataypi like nowhere else that I know of. Clouds of all shapes and types, from the "buttermilk biscuits" variety, which fills the sky with a mosaic composed of hundreds of clouds each uncannily similar to all the others, to thunderous storm clouds from which lightning erupts, to clouds pierced by god rays at sunset, as in this photograph. There seems to be nothing to it until you spent a day, a week or a month there and witness the amazing variety that the sky -just the sky- can bring to a scene. Here is but one view of this grand stage. Enjoy.
