I received your print today and just want to say: WOW! Yes, it is breathtaking. I get some ooohs and ahhs from some of the work I print but your print was awesome.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for running the special to entice some of us to sample what is possible with current technology, skill, and a strong dedication to excellence.
From the matting to the packaging it was a first class job.

The Photograph
I am pleased to announce the release of the eighteenth Alain Briot Print of the Month Collection photograph: Four Clay Pots, Tumacacori National Monument.

The Images
This photograph was created at Tumacacori National Monument in Southern Arizona, in Spring 2004. Tumacacori is a historical Mission built by Spanish fathers. Today it is preserved as part of the National Park Service. While relatively rarely visited Tumacacori offers stunning opportunities for photography. We visit this location regularly during our Tucson Barrio Workshops which focus on Spanish Architecture and on Color.

I found this series of clay pots in an open air area on the Mission grounds. They were lit only by diffused light from the sky. From my experience working with Natural light I knew that the shaded areas would look blue on film. I also knew that the red clay the pots are made of would create a dramatic color contrast with the blue shaded wall and shelf.

I created two images, both with my Linhof Master Technica, 21o-f5.6 Rodenstock lens and Fuji Provia. I just couldn't decide which composition I liked best. This dilemma continued after I processed and printed the transparencies. I therefore decided to offer them both as prints of the month, respectively number eighteen and nineteen, based on the very positive feedback I received from my audience.

This image differ greatly from my regular landscape work. However it is not all that dissimilar when you consider that the pots are lit by natural light, are located in a National Monument and that the photographs are created using the same equipment I normally use. What differs is the visualization of the image rather than the approach.

The Print
This photograph is available framed and unframed. It is hand signed on the mat and the print. The frame is a handmade, Mahogany Finish Frame. The moulding is truly magnificent and does emphasize the beauty of these two images. The photograph I took of the moulding show very closely how beautiful this presentation is. However, these pieces looks much better in reality than a web photograph can show! You just won't believe your eyes when you receive yours. All the framing materials used are Museum Quality, archival supplies. All my work is guaranteed for life in regard to fading and damage caused by framing materials.

To continue the Alain Briot Print of the Month Collection spirit I am offering you a very unique price on both the matted and the matted and framed version of Four Clay Pots.

Framed pieces are delivered in a stunning mahogany finish frame.
